Below there is a closer on the away version, the blue one.
Intro
For the first time in modern history (after the fall of communism 1989) red color has been dropped as an away option. I mentioned about a mythical superstition in a blog article that red might bring bad luck. Mostly the red kits are associated to the Romanian “old timers” with the World Cup quarterfinal game lost in 1994 at penalties.
With the new kits there is no red to be seen. The home kit is yellow/white, the away kit is fully blue and the third version kit is full white.
Will this change the course of Romanian kits history? Maybe.
We never know if red will ever come back.
Blue is the new away color for Romania. Mentioned in my previous review article from 2018 and also brought arguments on my idea why I think blue might be a good alternative choice and thus it seems somebody listened and delivered. Last time when Romania played in full blue was in the early 90s.
Romania played for the last time in an adidas blue template in 1990, in a Euro 1992 qualification game, against Bulgaria. And before that in 1988 against Netherlands. That information is coming from the guys making the "Replay" bi-weekly TV show that focuses on the history of the Romanian National team. Which is available on YouTube.
Debut
The debut of the new away blue Joma kit happened in the group stage game Hungary U21 1:2 Romania U21, 27.03.2021, counting for UEFA European Championship Under-21. Competition that was held in Budapest.
Careful for the fakes
It is for the first time when I witnessed fake Romanian shirts being manufactured and sold. I do suspect that the design file of the shirt was somehow leaked and got into the wrong hands. One month after the official release of the shirt, sites like eBay and other online marketplace got populated with the newest Romanian shirts and even with player names on the back.
The timing was terrible because the original shirt did not had the time to get to the fans and it was not an instant success so there was a lot of confusion which one was original and which one was fake. Lots of fakes were bought because of the low price.
At the moment the online market might be invaded with fake shirts bought or/and sold from DHgate:
Below there are some couple of things mentioned to help you out differentiate a fake from an original.
The only place you can buy at the moment Romania away shirt 2021–2023 and be sure is authentic would be: the official web shop of Romanian Football Federation.

Fun fact:
The flag of Romania features three colors in its tricolor design. Blue is located on the hoist side. The blue is said to represent liberty. The center band is yellow in color and symbolizes justice. Red is the final group and represents the brotherhood of the nation. Romanian Constitution described the exact description of the flag and its colors.
The flag is very similar to the Chad flag, except that the blue shades are different. Chad called on the United Nations to look into the matter in 2004, but nothing has changed.
